Having problem finding the right battery for my Bedroom ceiling fan remote...

The battery that came with it is now 10 years old. Looking to replace it. This is a remote control for a Hunter ceiling fan.

Here's the problem. The battery says its an A23S. I have several extra A23's and they are significantly thicker than the battery in the fan and don't fit in. I assume the "S" means "Slim."

A23 just doesn't fit...

The "slim" battery doesn't seem to think it's special at all...

And I can't find any A23S's on Amazon or even Google for that matter. Is this some freak battery only used in this one remote control?

Try an A27. Should be 2 mm smaller in diameter, and 0.5 mm shorter.

The eBay ones are probably the same size as the ones you have that don't fit.... I'd put a calipers on your old one before ordering anything.

The eBay ones have A23S stamped right on the battery and look to be the correct proportions.

I appreciate your suggestion too and will try it as well. These ebay ones might not be here until August 1st (but likely will be here in a couple weeks.) International shipping.

The only reason I said something is because the eBay listing says they're the same size as a standard A23

So... funny thing.

The battery in the fan remote was an A23. A23S doesn't seem to be anything special.

The problem was with the Radio Shack battery. Although it clearly says 23-023A on it, if you keep reading it also says N LR1 and worse, clearly says 1.5 v.The radio shack battery was never an A23.

Today I received a pair of A23 batteries I ordered before I knew about/tried the radio shack batteries and they fit perfectly. They are the same size as the battery I removed from the remote.
