JK unlimited cargo dimensions?

Just out of curiosity, with the rear seats folded down what are the dimensions in the back? Say, from back of front seats to rear door, width between wheel wells and full side to side? To put it another way, with the rear seats folded down what is the largest piece of plywood you could fit completely flat in the back?

None, considering the smallest piece of plywood is 4X8.

This is why you get a trailer if you are getting one of these.

I'm not even sure that stupid-ass truck conversion could carry a sheet of plywood.

You are completely missing the point. I don't care about carrying sheets of plywood, I'm just curious as to the floor dimensions with the back seats down.

Perhaps someone else will chime in. I am not going through the 20 minutes of pain to remove/replace the little dude's car seat in order to measure...just don;t have that much time these days.

Maybe Kthrash or one of the other guys will measure for ya. If not, I can get to it, just not until the weekend at least.

maybe this will help.

Went out and got some numbers for you. Hope this helps in your decision!

66" from the inside wall of the tailgate to the rear of the front drivers seat (seat fully to the rear)
42" interior height of hardtop to floor at rear cargo area
59" cargo area width from inside edge of "bedrail to bedrail"
61" interior hardtop width from window to window
43" cargo area width between rear fenders
36.5" cargo area width at factory subwoofer
47" width of factory rollbar at rear cargo area
36" height of factory rollbar from cargo floor.

Edit: These measurements taken on an '08 JK Unlimited X w/ hardtop and all factory panels, carpets, seats, etc in place.

GOD DANG -- GET AFTER IT AZ J.

I just went out and measured for you. With the rear seats up the depth varies between 28" at the top of the back seat near the headrests and 37" at the bottom of seats, The width is 44" minimum between the roll bars and other than that the inside of the hard top it is 60" across. Finally the height is 36" to the roll bar and 42" to the hard top when your not under the roll bar.

Thanks AZJ! Probably a stupid question, but interior dimension wise, are the '08s that you listed measurements for identical to the newer ('12+) models?

All this is probably for nothing, I'd really hate to give up my T. However, sometimes I miss having the interior storage of an SUV, which makes me wonder if I can get away with not having a truck bed. I can deal with occasionally paying for delivery of large objects that I'd otherwise haul in the truck bed, but car camping with the wife involves bringing a lot more stuff than car camping with just the kids. I've had a couple TJs in the past and don't want another, but the new JKs look to be far nicer.

Honestly, I'm a bit surprised how much room there is. Roughly 3' x almost 4' at the narrowest with seats up and 5.5' x almost 4' with rear seats down.

No idea...I'm a TJ owner lol

Just get a ****ing 1/2-ton crew cab pickup with a roll'n'lock and be done with it. Solves all of those problems, and you aren't stuck in a cramped turd daily.

Not everyone wants to drive a big fawking battle tank. My silverado drove great and was super comfortable but I don't miss it. It was too big to offroad or fit in tight parking decks.

abqtj - thanks for the measurements! :beerchug:

Or just put a locking tonneau cover on the truck I already drive. I'm guessing you missed the part where I'm currently driving a truck and sometimes miss having an SUV.

This is my current ride. The only full sized truck I'd even consider trading my H3T in on would be an Avalanche, but even then I'd be giving up too much offroad capability to be worth it. Larger mid-size truck, front/rear lockers, 35" tires without a lift. As far as pickups go this is about as perfect for me as they get.
