Dryer Venting...

For $20 on Amazon Prime we picked up one of these little USB cameras-
2 Million Pixels Cmos 5m USB Waterproof Hd 6-led Borescope Endoscope Inspection Tube Visual Camera Amazon.com Industrial Scientific - and hooked it up to my Galaxy S3 (USB adapter required.)
And found this-
This is looking in from the outside vent. It fell off right there.

It was cool to look at my teeth from the other side... I need to brush more.
Hoping the place that comes will open the wall so we can replace it- that is probably 30+ years old.
They could probably fish a new one without opening the wall if they tried. Not sure they'll try though.
You know, not a bad idea... Even if they don't try could probably push something straight down...

Well the service company was supposed to come between 12 and 3PM today, it's now 3:50pm, have not heard from them and when I call their number it just rings and rings and rings and eventually after like 20 rings it says to enter remote access code.
Mom is trying herself. New problem. She got 4 inch tubing from a local hardware store but it's too big and rigid to fit through from the outside. Also there is an electric line right next to the dryer vent tubing.
Any ideas, thinking it's going to need to be done from the inside.

Can't help you but I had a squirrel rotting inside my dryer line last year. Hot, humid air + dead animal = horrific. The asshole made it down to the the hose near the floor/where it enters the dryer and couldn't get back out.
The guy who was supposed to come between 12 and 3 just showed up.
Glad he did because this place was the next shop in line from the warranty company.

So the guy came, not ready to work, but he has to call in his plan and get approval, hopefully he gets it tomorrow.
He confirms what is in there isn't up to code, going to replace it with a straight pipe outside the wall of the laundry room, cut the ceiling to get it outside. Replace the outside vent as well. His plan also requires re-routing the gas line a little. If you look at the first picture in this thread you'll see the pipe currently ends right where the straight vent pipe needs to go.

Yup, I was thinking that interior riser was the cheapest solution if the stuff in the wall was not reusable.
Home warranty says this is an upgrade not a repair so not covered.
Guy wants $540 to do it.

Currently down the $85 deductible I paid, though I am arguing that with the home warranty company, they are reviewing the call. I wouldn't have bothered if they told me there was any chance this wasn't covered. I specifically asked and the woman I spoke to said it was covered.

What specifically does the $540 cover?
I'd argue that it's not an upgrade, it's pretty obviously a repair. My warranty had a clause that would address bringing something up to code, so some upgrades were in fact covered. I'm not surprised they declined it, but to call it purely an upgrade isn't exactly right unless you were demanding an upgrade rather than the repair they offered.
